Important Information for Installations Running Version 3.3.11 or Earlier

Are you using the “eRecht24 Legal Texts for WordPress” plugin version 3.3.11 or earlier? If so, please follow the instructions below.

As always, create a complete backup of your WordPress website before updating.

How to Update the Plugin

1. Deactivate the plugin.
2. An update notification will appear.
3. Update your existing plugin to the latest version.
4. Reactivate the plugin. All of your existing settings will be preserved.

No Update Notification After Deactivating the Plugin?

If no update notification appears, your plugin directory is probably not wp-content/plugins/erecht24/, but a different directory such as wp-content/plugins/erecht24-1/.

In this case, please follow these steps:

1. Reactivate the plugin.
2. Click “View Details” to verify the currently installed version.
3. Click “Install Now.”
4. The latest version of the plugin will be installed alongside your existing installation (in the wp-content/plugins/erecht24/ directory).
5. All of your existing settings will be carried over automatically.
6. Deactivate the old plugin.
7. Activate the new plugin.
8. Verify the settings in the new plugin (your API key should be valid and your existing legal texts should be available).
9. Delete the old plugin.

Can I Install the New Version Manually?

Yes, absolutely. The new version will also retain all of your existing settings when installed manually.

Follow these steps:

1. Download the latest version of the plugin.
   You can find it in the official WordPress Plugin Directory:https://wordpress.org/plugins/erecht24/
2. Open the Plugins page in your WordPress dashboard.
   Log in to your WordPress admin area, go to Plugins, and then select Add New Plugin.
3. Upload the ZIP file.
   Click Upload Plugin, select the ZIP file you downloaded, and start the installation.
4. Confirm that you want to replace the existing version.
   WordPress will normally detect the existing installation and replace it with the latest version.
5. Activate the plugin.
   Your existing settings and connections will be preserved.

Finally, make sure that only the latest version of the plugin remains activated.
