In reply to: I did something to stop the googlebot from coming backI don’t know if you’re still around, Maureen. However, a website does not *have* to have a robots.txt file; it’s just there to tell search engines what not to spider.
While it looks like you’ve fixed your blog, I’d also say that, as to enforcing www/non-www URLs, it’s better to edit the .htaccess file directly than to use a plugin. My guess is that when you uninstalled the plugin, it affected the .htaccess, and so you got problems.
Anyway, it does look like you’ve fixed it.

In reply to: Exlude Link styling from linked pictures??Luggruff, you *can* remove the links from linked images; you’ll just have to play with the CSS until you get it right. Try this, or something like it:
#content a img
#content a img:hoverForum: Fixing WordPress

In reply to: Why were Link Categories combined into Regular categories?I don’t know the meaning of your reply Diane, maybe a joke at me. But I like your website, it has useful info on there, thanks for that & cheers.
Sorry for the obtuse reference; it’s a line from The Matrix — and maybe it doesn’t exactly apply here.
All I meant was that perhaps there’s no reason for having combined category and blogroll links; at least, no reason that would appeal to us. Personally, I’ve complained about this before, and asked the same question, because it’s entirely illogical to group on-site navigational links with recommended links to other sites. It would seem to be a usability no-no.
(And thanks for the compliments!)

In reply to: Site is down, but can still log into wordpessThat falls into the “stuff happens” arena. Sometimes plugins make things not work. Or don’t.

In reply to: I just did a backup – now site is blank?I’d suggest pulling your server’s error logs to see if they give you a clue.
And, unless someone else has a suggestion, I’d also contact your web host to see if perhaps they’ve updated something. You never know.
… I’d add that sometimes events seem related when they’re not. But you’ll probably have to do some sleuthing.

In reply to: I just did a backup – now site is blank?Yes, a .sql file is the database.
Now I’m curious about how doing the backup could have interfered with the rest of the site. What version of WordPress are you using? Had you done anything else around the same time? Uploaded anything? Installed plugins?

In reply to: Weird errorsOh, I see. Definitions:
cPanel is the brand name of a specific web hosting control panel — what’s normally referred to as “cpanel”.
WordPress and other web applications also have control panels (or “admin panels”), whether or not the web hosting account uses cPanel.
Tom, have you set the correct permissions on the index-extra.php? I haven’t used WP 2.2, but that’s where I’d look, because the .png image doesn’t say that the file is *missing*; it says you don’t have permission to access it.

To be honest, I like your first theme’s header. 🙂

In reply to: Site is down, but can still log into wordpessBy any chance, did you upload the default theme to the server? If not, try it and see if your blog now appears.

In reply to: What is this -> virtuuozoonostie.info ?Hm. A couple of questions: where is your server located, and did you use any pre-built themes (that did not come with WordPress)?
