Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Another person with restoration errorsI never got an option like that. It just went straight to “download file”. I looked through the different .gz and .tar.gz and all the other fun things, and the only ones that don’t pull up directories are pulled up a single, no extension file that’s 0 kb. Heh. Useful!
Thanks anyway, but I guess I’m screwed when it comes to salvaging my posts. I still need help getting the front page to work, though, if you can help me with that.

In reply to: Another person with restoration errorsNo… it just seems to have backed up what was in the directory, but I don’t see my database at all, even though I got these from the database backup page on Cpanel.

In reply to: Another person with restoration errorsETA: There is a couple of back up folders in my data before we moved, but there’s no .sql file present, and the hosting has been cancelled, so I doubt I can get one. All I have are the .gz files and a .tar.gz file. Will these work?

In reply to: Database ErrorOmg. Okay. I got really, really, REALLY lucky, and found a back-up copy of the old wp-config file hidden away from last year. I would never have figured this out on my own.
Thank you so much for all your help, Vkaryl
PS: I still don’t know what the problem was, since the database names are the same. Hopefully this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

In reply to: Database ErrorKay, seems I can’t edit my posts anymore, but my Database name is definately correct. I am out of ideas.

In reply to: Database ErrorI don’t recall EVER getting an email from Cpanel, and I save all my emails too… but then again I co-own the domain with a friend, and it’s under her name, so she probably got the email instead of me. If one was sent out at all, I don’t recall ever getting emails like that from any other domains I’ve owned in the past.
I guess I could reinstall it, I’m concerned I’ll lose all my posts though, since I’m not sure how to back up my database. According to Cpanel though, the database name is azpnet_wrdp2, and for some reason it’s just not working.
Is there a way to rename the database? I could try that.

In reply to: Database ErrorSorry, edited my post on you there. The username and password are fine (I took your suggestion and made a new user account) but the datebase name seems to be the error.

In reply to: Database ErrorOkay, seems my username and password are fine, it’s the database name that’s the trouble.
I’m looking at the Cpanel MySQL page right now, and it’s telling me that the datebase name is azpnet_wrdp2, but that’s not working. I tried just wrdp2, no such luck.

In reply to: The Usual: Error Establishing a Database ConnectionI’m having the same problem only I accidently murdered my wp-config.php file and now I can’t remember what my settings were (I was trying to delete a different blog and went into the wrong folder lol)
Not sure what to do next

In reply to: disable comments on ALL of my entriesAwesome, thank you 😀
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: disable comments on ALL of my entriesThe theme I’m using doesn’t have a post.php, but there’s something similar to what you’re talking about in the index.php file.
<?php comments_popup_link(‘No Comments »’, ‘1 Comment »’, ‘% Comments »’); ?>
Is it safe to remove that?

In reply to: Changing Theme – Now my Blog is brokenAhhhh… I upgraded and got everything to work.
Thank you everyone for your help, I really appreciate it 😀

In reply to: Changing Theme – Now my Blog is brokenI had uploaded the theme into the main folder where my blog is, which is what messed it up, and I have no idea how to fix that.
I should probably also mention that I think I’m using an older version of WordPress because I do not have a “Presentation” tab, I just have a template editor where I’m supposed to manually edit the pages. According to the footer in my Admin panel, I’m using WordPress 1.0.1

In reply to: Changing Theme – Now my Blog is brokenOh, I can still access everything from the admin section, there should still be hope, right? I just can’t get the bloody thing to actually work (Fatal error: Call to undefined function: get_header() in /home2/azpnet/public_html/artblog/index.php on line 1) but I feel better knowing all my posts are still intact.
Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Changing Theme – Now my Blog is brokenI’m not sure I know how to do that since I don’t have the old theme on my computer anymore. And I’m afraid of just replacing them with the originals because I might eradicate any chances of salvaging my archived entries.
