I am having the same issue. For example, in this post http://lawtheories.com/?p=1919 it said “Posted on October 7, 2014October 7, 2014 by Devlin Hartline”
I changed the text in inc/template-tags.php as you suggested, and it appears to have done the trick. Now it says “Posted on October 7, 2014 by Devlin Hartline”
