MySQL database access is a requirement of WP, .Mac does not provide such functionality, as it’s not a “real” web host. Try MediaTemple, we love’m!
I would remove the Fantastico installation, download the WP distribution from this site, and follow the manual installation instructions. We’ve had tremendous problems with Fantastico deployments. You should be able to just delete the WP-CONTENT directory and using your cPanel or whatever hosting control panel is installed, adding new MYSQL databases/usernames/passwords.
Check out a site we just deployed using WordPress as the CMS and Blog engine. It doesn’t look like a WP-based project, we made use of the insert pages as components, so the client had a very easy method to update components of a page without breaking any of the layout code. This is a great *free* way for users to operate a pretty solid CMS engine based site using WordPress.
