I’m getting that same issue. I’ve also found out that the size of the resized text box is proportional to the length of the validation error message.
So the default “Please fill in the required field” produces a short-ish text field, but if you had a really long message like “Please fill in the blah blah blah blah (more stuff here)” validation error message, the text field will be proportionally longer.
