Hi George,
Yes after plugin was deleted, I:
– deactivated w3t
– cleared browser cache & reloaded site (successfully)
– reactivated w3t
– emptied all caches in w3t
semi-success I guess, because now I have no maintenance plugin, but will consider reinstalling wp maintenance mode at some time to test a further complete processThanks for your reply 🙂

So I jumped straight to this support page without seeing the FAQ’s:
Cache Plugin SupportWP Maintenance Mode can be unstable due the cache plugins, we recommend to deactivate any cache plugin when maintenance mode is active.
I fixed my problem with these helpful, “IMPORTANT” two lines 🙂
Ok so thats weird too…I deactivated all site network instances of this plugin and then ssh’d and deleted the plugin folder and the maintenance page is still showing after clearing site cache and browser…
Would this be an ISP caching issue maybe? or something else
