ah ok. i mean multi install, single database. my clash is occurring on this basis. the root WP install is http://www.feedbackfilms.co.uk/

    Thanks again for your attentions!

    Thanks for your reply.

The links are actually correct and, according to the dashboard, there are corresponding pages for all of them. However, when following those links (including from the dashboard preview), you get a 404, returned by the other WordPress installation.

As far as i know, the only relevant config setting is $table_prefix which is set correctly, i.e. differently for each installation, with each set of tables prefixed accordingly. This seems to be working correctly as the admin panel allows for post updates to be made and recorded separately for each installation.

The problem appears to be with the ‘/’ installation returning all requests within the ‘/feedbacknew’ installation, other than the home page of course. I can’t work out why this is.

    Thanks again!

This problematic WordPress install continues. Logging into wp-admin is impossible unless I temporarily change the name of the theme (customised Sandbox theme) as t-p suggested. The rest of the site works fine and admin works locally but now it is online, wp-admin throws up a blank page.

If I change the theme name, the rest of the site breaks, but I can access admin.

When I change the theme name back to what it was, I can access most of admin (and the rest of the site comes back), but I can’t logout of admin. I also cannot access admin from a different browser (I guess where the session is not logged).

Not sure how to troubleshoot from here.

The error given out on pages such as the failed logout page is:

    Thanks for your assistance!

Thanks t-p. One of these seemed to work, though I’m not sure which because although I did them in the order you said, my ftp client behaved like it was renaming more slowly than expected so I sort of did them both at the same time.

But it now works and I can use the admin. However, it has led to other problems.

    1) It seems to have broken wp_head so I had to manually put some script links in (like jquery).

    2) I can’t seem to logout, it just hangs.

Thanks again! You at least got it moving again.

I am having trouble with this too (I’ve just installed it). I’m working on a site locally so can’t link to it. However, with regards to the possible problem outlined in this thread, I do have this jQuery call being made on my site:

    <script type=’text/javascript’ src=’http://localhost/xxx/wp-includes/js/jquery/jquery.js?ver=1.7.2′></script&gt;

I don’t know if I need to make some other call elsewhere too? Or perhaps I’ve got a problem elsewhere, like in the CSS?

I’m also getting the “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” error in the plugin settings page.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Matt

You’re very good. This worked a treat. LAMP by default didn’t permit this.

    Thank you!

Page. I’m only working with pages right now. With the default setting, it works, with the default url style.

Thanks for the reply. I tried your fix, but it is still not working. The new page names are a dead end. Any other ideas?

I only have Pages going at the mo, but they are stored in the posts section so I think behave a little like posts anyway.

    Thanks again.

Thanks for that. I’m astounded that there’s not a good free one.

I thought events calendar was pretty good, just clearly is a little buggy. It surely wouldn’t need much work to make it fully workable. Unfortunately I’m not skilled enough for that!

Any suggestions for a free one?

    Thanks again!

I fixed it now! I don’t really know what it was but I think it had something to do with the fact that I manually changed the URLs in the db (I only changed it in 3 rows, the two standard URL rows and the upload row) before moving the files to their new place. There must be something I failed to do manually that got done when I updated in the settings. Do you know what? Never mind anyway, I’m running now.

    Many thanks for your attention!

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes but i changed it back to the previous, basic holding page for now since the wp install is broken. But all you would really see if it were active is as I described: the index, wp-admin if you have access, and a bunch of 404s from any other link.

    It’s sumsin.com.

    Any thoughts?

Possible problems (from my limited knowledge and guesswork) are:

    – The presence of other folders and files in the root.
    – Something in .htaccess.
    – Some unknown (to me) in wp meaning that changing the URLs in the options table is insufficient to make it all work.

    Thanks again.
