    Thank you for all your help. As it turns out, the WordPress multisite found an error with one of their tables that was affecting our site. Once they corrected that, the menus returned. I don’t know the details, but was thankful it got fixed. Thanks for all the help! Our next step would have been to restore the site to the last working backup.

    The theme author said it was not their theme. One issue is that my site is “hosted” on a WordPress multisite. I am an administrator but don’t have control over adding or deleting plugins. But my network administrator / host said he checked all the plugins and that was not the issue. He also tried my site on other themes, and the problem continued. The other sites on the multisite are not having this issue, I’m told. I’m willing to accept that perhaps I did something when I was creating a blog post that caused this to happen (but I don’t know what!). However, at this point, I know I just need to fix it, and learn from it. I really don’t want to abandon the site entirely. My organization has had it for more than 2 years and we’ve accumulated a lot of information there.
