In reply to: [WP Media Category Management] Media orderHai Irenehofer,
Sorry, I’ve been a bit busy lately. But re-reading your request, I have an additional question:
Do you want to change the sort order in the admin page or on the front page using a shortcode?Gr.
JanHai Marco,
Thanks for using my plugin.
I’m not quite sure what the problem might be.
I’m working on a new version that might be less resrictive on when to display the media selection drop down.

Are you using the CPT plugin or another plugin?

In reply to: [WP Media Category Management] Runtime error using pluginHai Jay,
Thanks for using my plugin.
Can you tell me what is the name of the taxonomy you are trying to register?
It might well be that the name you defined is too long. The plugin has no check on the length of the taxonomy defined.

Looking forward to your description of the issue with the shortcode…Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WP Media Category Management] Listing media files by categoryHai,
And thanks for this feedback.
I checked and the reason it works for me is that I do use get_posts($attachments_args) to get the attachments.
Can we mark this as solved now?

In reply to: [WP Media Category Management] Media orderHai Irenehofer,
Just today, I received a similar request by mail.
At the moment, this is not possible.
But since there is a request for it, I’ll consider it.
For now, you might try to sort the list of media post ID’s using another plugin.
As the shortcode used to show the picture gallery has the option to be the input for another shortcode.
Hope this helps.Gr.

In reply to: [WP Media Category Management] hide category from main media libraryHai Smarta,
Thanks for using my plugin.
At the moment, there is not option to exclude a category.
However, I can see the iritation in your situation.
What might help is to define a new category, e.g. “No Profile Pics” and (bulk) assign this to all media that are not in the “User Profile Pics” category.
After you have done this, you can filter on this new category which should have the desired effect.Hope this helps.

In reply to: [WP Media Category Management] Great plugin!Hai Fredrikk,
Thanks for this comment.
However, I do not agree with you.
As stated before, a media category is something completely different from the location where the media is stored.
You don’t bother where WordPress is storing the meta information for posts, do you? There should be enough functionality to manipulate the media from the management consoles. If there is something missing, we can provide a plugin for that as I did with the bulk assignments.
Suppose you could store media files in a user defined folder, how would WordPress handle these files? How to treat them when they are replaced by the user? I strongly believe that WordPress is the only authority to handle the storage of the media files. Just as you don’t determine in what sectors of the harddisk the file pieces need to be stored, you leave that also to the operating system or device driver.
There is one argument I can support to control the location where the files are stored, and that is when you would want to off-load the media files to a dedicated storage, e.g. cloud, to minimize the storage needed on the server. And there is a plugin to help with that.
Hope you can understand why I won’t be offering this service.

In reply to: [WP Media Category Management] bulk dropdown always assigns 1st MCM categoryHai RP,
Sorry to hear my plugin doesn;t work with the other plugin.
Unfortunenately, I didn’t found the time yet to test it myself.
Good catch you did!It did also see however that the UltimateMember plugin has more issues regarding the compatibility with other plugins.
Hope to find some time to have a look myself soon.
Good luck in the mean time.Gr.

In reply to: [WP Media Category Management] mcm_categories not visible in bulk dropdownHai Konsument,
Good catch. Sorry that this doesn’t completely solve your problem.
Can you tell me what page you are viewing when the problem occurs? This is shown in the url part after the wp-admin (e.g. ‘upload.php’, ‘post-new.php’).
In my plugin, I test that page and it is only shown on some pages.Jan

In reply to: [WP Media Category Management] Keyword search inside categoryHai Ivan,
Sorry to see you still have the issue.
But, as you stated earlier, you cannot reproduce the issue yourself on a fresh install.
This could indicate it is something which is caused by the combination of two plugins.
Can you send me a list of plugins (and versions) you use on the site where the problem is?Best,
