Yes, but I don’t have all the appropriate back ups for site two.

To migrate the sites from econ to deluxe there’s involvement with downloading all the files and folder via FTP, there’s backing up (exporting into XML) in the WordPress interface, and there’s backing up the database as a SQL file.

I don’t have an XML backup of site two, but if I could bring site one back to snuff I would be fine rebuilding site two from google cache.

    Thanks again keesiemeijer!

I’ve spent a number of hours now trying to make my front page how I want it following the instructions at the link you sent me. But I am stumped on something that is probably very basic.

I made a “page” and a custom template for it. But now I am trying to change that template to display a different header than the blog page of the site will. And I can’t figure out how to make the custom page call header-special.php or whatever, rather than simply the default header.php. I gather it has something to do with specifying “$name” or something.

Here’s some instructions that I think are probably relevant but which I don’t know enough to follow:

“get_header() Includes the header.php template file from your current theme’s directory. If a name is specified then a specialised header header-{name}.php will be included.”

How do I specify a name as it says it’ll look for?

    Sorry for my continued confusion!

    Thanks!

    Hi kessiemeijer,

Thanks very much for those links! I’ve managed to follow the instructions to reset the URLs. And now most of the site is up and running again and I think I understand more about how it all works. Cool!

Now I’m going to go back and try to do what I was originally trying to do before the changes I made led to these errors. What I wanted to do was have my users see example.com/blog for my wordpress blog and let example.com
‘s index page be some more or less static page that links to the blog with “check out my blog” you know.

    Here goes.

    Thanks again

    David
