  • @ KTS915,

Thanks for that, but after looking at the description for Ultimate Member, I don’t think that it has the forum functionality which was the original imepetus for installing Buddy Press. Your input about Buddy Press’ ongoing development is useful though. Perhaps if I wrote Buddy Press directly and asked some questions there. I’m already committed to Google Groups for this spring semester, and then there is all summer, so perhaps Buddy Press will have this worked out by then. I could even deal with it for another term. I just don’t want it to be an ongoing issue arising from my own ineptness.

I should also mention that, per the advice given in another thread, I switched the BP permalink back to default. Interestingly, I still get a 404 message, but the page where this message occurs is completely different and seems to be generated from within my Bluehost server instead of from within WordPress like the earlier message.

Hello, I am having much the same problem. Everything else seems to be working fine. But when I registered with my dummy account, I got the 404 Error Page not found.

I did just install BuddyPress yesterday, but I cannot say how long this error message has been an issue because it has been well over two and a half years since I attempted to register memberships at my blog. (I have been using it very actively in other ways, but memberships have not been an issues, much owing to how unsatisfactory I found the Mingle Forum for what I am trying to do with my classes. Having found out about BuddyPress, I saw the potential for memberships again, only to run into this glitch. I AM able to register members. However, this error message is sure to cause concern for my students and trouble for me for years to come if I can’t sort it out.

Yes, I tried the method mentioned above of deactivating various plugins, but that didn’t help.

I would greatly appreciate some help with this.
