Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: error with installation-Famous 5-minute installMy host runs php 5, and I have another wordpress page running, but I couldn’t get that one installed on my own either. I had to call my ISP to get them to set it up. I suppose I’ll have to do the same this time.

In reply to: any workable tutorial for calvalia responsive? Thanks, I appreciate it. I found the problem, and that is that it’s me, not the template, me not thinking in “wyziwig” but thinking in code. Each parent menu item in this template is an individual link, and not a “new menu”. Thanks for your reply!
Thanks for this, I’ll give it a try and see how it works.

In reply to: how to tutorial?I appreciate all the help, but this is extremely frustrating. Please forgive me, I’m not a beginner with html or css, or building websites on notepad, but with this, I am an absolute beginner! π I think I’m stupid and need to go pound nails for awhile π
I used opencart for my store, and it was a no-brainer compared to this. Why is wordpress supposed to be so easy for the average user? I keep getting locked out of the admin, changed my password 3x already, and I can guarantee that the average user will know nothing about permissions. I might try the default theme, but if I upgrade the verison 3.7 of wp, will I be going through all of this all over again?

In reply to: how to tutorial?Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme itself. Too late for that. So I changed the theme permission to 766, nothing.
I get the same “Oops Google Chrome could not find wp”Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: how to tutorial?Ooops, correction: I’m using twenty eleven theme.

In reply to: how to tutorial?I’m sorry, I was referring to a different db when I mentioned the online store, the store has nothing to do with what I’m doing with wordpress. I figured out the permissions level, so I’m good there now. Still, nothing works. I can’t make any changes to a theme. I’m using theme twenty-seven, and I deleted all the images out of the folder because I didn’t want to use them. Next, I replaced them with one image-in the same exact folder. Now, nothing works.

In reply to: how to tutorial? When I set up an online store, a certain file in each directory needed to be changed to 644. If I open a directory in wordpress, there are many files. Would I have to open each one and change each permission level? there is a config file with permission at 666. I would have to open every file in every directory to see if if has the right permission? I wanted to do wordpress because it was supposed to be easy for the average user.

In reply to: how to tutorial? What I mean, is there a certain single file, ie “congig.php” in each directory, or is it all of the files in each directory? They’re mostly all set to 644.

In reply to: how to tutorial? The folders are at 755. what files need to be set? Is there a certain file in each directory?

In reply to: how to tutorial?Hi, my site url is: http://www.jeffs60s.com/wp/wordpress/
I use core ftp, running windows 7 64-bit.
I’m hoping I have wp installed. It’s been a real monster to get done. I really know nothing about this, but I’m going to have to learn it very soon. I built this site as a sort of “learn as I go” thing. I get error messages from Chrome and Firefox whenever I try to upload anything. I’ve even dragged photos into the ftp, but they don’t show up when I try to upload from there. If I have access to my admin dashboard, does that mean it’s installed? How will I know? Thnanks!
