    Hello.

    I wanted to followup.

I checked with my theme support and they said that the new WordPress update had conflicts with their plugins and their tech guys are working to correct it but until then to use the jQuery Migrate Helper plugin. I installed it and it helped. I also updated my theme to the new Divi one, as I was using an original Elegant Themes theme that is no longer supported or updated, and things are working better.

I also got my hosting company to update my PHP, so maybe that helps too.

I am having an issue with disabling the auto update for plugins though. I used the drop down to choose the disable and applied it to all, but it does not seem to actually work even though it lets me know that I did it. I can now see both a disable and enable option, but the plugins are all still updating automatically. I’d prefer they don’t but can’t seem to stop it.

Any thoughts on the last item would be appreciated, but I was able to handle the initial password protect issue without having to deactivate everything. Saved me a bunch of time.

    Thanks.

    Thank you for your help.

I have a box that says that I need to do a PHP update. Could this be the issue?

I am running a PHP Compatibility scan right now. I am not a tech person so not totally sure what I am looking for.

I created a staging site for playing around with switching my theme to Divi and I updated all the plugins but not the latest 5.5 WordPress update, which it is recommending and the password protect option is working fine there. So, that would indicate it has to do with the latest WordPress update itself.

    Thanks for your reply.

Do plugins and the theme I have end up conflicting with new updates that WordPress does?

I actually realized that I just used the password protect option about a week ago before the latest WordPress update and it all worked fine. I haven’t added any plugins or done anything myself to what is on my website.

I also noticed that all my plugins are set to automatically update, which I’d prefer is not the case but I am not finding the way to change this. I have Jetpack so not sure if that has anything to do with it.

One plugin was automatically updated and I deactivated it when I found I had this password issue. Nothing changed though.

I am concerned about changing themes and losing code I have in my current one.

Any additional thoughts and assistance would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks.
