I don’t know if this will help or not.
I am running into the same issue, but I have run into it before
(I use a modified red-train theme)
When ever I post something too large for the container it will drop down and display below the navigation
I have looked at the .css and can’t find where it would be reading where that larger (than 980px) format

right now I have excluded the category….but I would prefer to do otherwise

Okay Along these same lines I have changed my category-template code so that depth equals 1 and it is still showing a child template.
In my theme “simple green”, the children show up as parents, with no indentation and below all the other parents
Any ideas here?
