I have the site up with the new WordPress screen (Welcoming), I now want to ftp over all me old files and directories. Is there some trick to this or can I simply ftp over the old files and dir from my site?

No it didn’t, the site is a multi serive (Army, Navy etc) communication center that was running until the hack job someone did. I have my own header, forums set up for each branch of service and more.
It was/is a nice site so I won’t be giving up on getting her running. I’m double checking the files and directory content and matching it up to what I have locally from my last backup, and reviewing your comments.
Thanks again Mac for all that you’ve tried to do, it’s hard trying to be someone else’s hands and eyes through the screen.

The comment above is where I’m getting confused….I know easy to do. ha
If the database on the server has the line W_POSTS showing a count of 9.4 due to hardly any posts where would I see the difference when viewing the config file to make sure it is pointing to the correct database. I only have one database on this server so I’m not sure how I can have the config file pointing to the wrong location.

In reply to: Index.php file brokenI tried to change the w_ line in the config file to match the cpanel database where the line has w-posts. I went inside the config file and the link that has the W_ I changed to W-POSTS…man the system didn’t like that so I changed it back to W_

I know I have the config file pointing to the correct database but don’t understand where to look in the config file for that same number or am I suppose to be looking in the root directory? If so it only shows the file size of 4kb. So I know this is not what your talking about….

One thing I did do early this morning was to copy my original themes from the original site backup to the theme directory on the server. So now the quesuion is how do I get my original web site settings to work?

I’ve completed the upload of the new files and directories. I also uploaded in the theme directory all my themes from my original backup.
When trying to access the url I get the message:
here doesn’t seem to be a wp-config.php file. I need this before we can get started.
Need more help? We got it.
You can create a wp-config.php file through a web interface, but this doesn’t work for all server setups. The safest way is to manually create the file.

For some reason I am having issues with my FTP program here at home so will finish the upload to the server when I get into the office here shortly. I did however delete all the files and directories except the two you mentioned above. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can finish the uploading.
