In reply to: [Montezuma] GIMP questionAny suggestions? I’ve read the online HELP. No help, in terms of it working.
Maybe my copy of GIMP is corrupted… sort of like American courts in all too many instances.
I’ll try uninstalling and installing a new.
Hi CrouchingBruin, that’s really interesting. Quite a long time ago someone suggested that I do a FB page for my Health Boundaries site. I started, but then got confused and wasn’t sure my site was one that “qualified”. I’m pretty bound by rules. Except when I finally get fed up and break free.
So, Can any site have a Facebook page? And, have you found that to be useful?
I decided to go with two images, 150 pixels each, side by side, so they’d load on a smart phone. Only for some reason they load vertically, which I wasn’t expecting.
I like linens, and when I’m depressed I like looking at linens and thinking how I could change the look of things, so at those times I want to put lots and lots of pictures of quilts and things on my page with linens. However, when I’m not in the same mood I don’t keep up with all the images, making them current. So, maybe it’s a good thing that I couldn’t find a gallery plugin.
though… I will try NextGen Gallery… It would be good to know about it before I have an actual, unavoidable need. 🙂
Thank you!
Hi Tobias, I’ve gotten the hang of putting HTML into the Text view and getting a colored text box. So, I’m sorry I bothered you.
Hope all is well with you.

In reply to: [Montezuma] How to change the background color of a single pageYou truly are like Magic to me, CrouchingBruin.
Even though I thought the html thing would work, I couldn’t seem to make the jump into actuality.
After your post I searched for HTML, and … found it quite easily. So now I have the basic format to make a colored text box… Oops, I forgot to test it for being responsive…
Happiness!!! It’s responsive.
Thank you SO Much!!!!

In reply to: [Montezuma] How to change the background color of a single pageRefining my question. I want to sort of recreate the cover of the Bound Letters I sent to the Congressional Committee on .. I forget. So in actual fact I don’t want the whole “body” a different color, just a portion of it….
Oh, I know, I was thinking that if I could find the code in Yahoo for that one bit being a different color, then I could put it into an HTML adding plugin I have and put it in as if it were an ad…
I can make html for my sidebar ads using the TEXT view, but I don’t see a way of doing the color for just a bit of wording, in the TEXT view.
I think if I knew the code it might work.

In reply to: [Montezuma] How to change the background color of a single pageHi again, CrouchingBruin…
Would you believe it… You’re RIGHT. Too intense!!!!
Wow, that is totally amazing to me. It’s so easy… when YOU do it!
I also put in a question to Tobias of TablePress because I saw that the stuff with colored backgrounds that I copied from Yahoo all came over as tables, so I thought maybe I could put the text into a table, which works, then change the color of the table background… I’m waiting to hear.
I’m thinking it’s probably not a good idea to make a lot of my pages different colors .. just because I now know how… I’m fighting the inclination …
Please will you let me know if there’s a way to NOT have the sidebar change????

In reply to: [Montezuma] How to change the background color of a single pageDarn it, the above is from hours ago. For a long time it wouldn’t let me post it. Now it got posted but what I just wrote, got lost. Sigh.
I don’t want the sidebar to be changed.
I’ll go put that code into my various css and see what happens.

In reply to: [Montezuma] How to change the background color of a single pageSorry for the really horrible ongoing typos above.
Also, I took out the references to Table, and it became responsive, but the color disappeared.
And, I forgot to mention that I found this in another topic:
body.page-id-4 {
background-color: #FF0000 !important;
}I tried adding that to my Various css, but with my page number, and it had No effect.
Yup. I have 6 sites. 5 are in WordPress. The four that are not about DOJ’s connection to Wells Fargo all work. They have the same Montezuma theme and far more plugins. The site that stopped working when I wanted to add more links and pictures re Eric Holder’s connection to Wells Fargo has fewer plugins than any of the other sites, and it doesn’t have one singe plug in that the other sites don’t have.
I think the problem is sly censorship, in which Norton has since begun to play a part.
Turns out there are several ways to go forward. Happiness.

In reply to: [Montezuma] What could be causing Add Media not to work…Oh, that’s a good point, that if it were a plugin then it would affect everyone with that plugin in the same way.
Clarity is such a lovely thing.
Thank you!!!

In reply to: [Montezuma] What could be causing Add Media not to work…Oh, sorry. I wan’t clear. I meant the Add Media button to actually add a picture to a page in WordPress.
I think the problem may be related to my new computer, though. I got a Dell with solid state hard drive. Love the speed. But, there seem to be a few glitches on it that aren’t on my old Dell…
Tech is calling me sometime in the next two hours…

In reply to: [Montezuma] I wonder if help with AddThis is possibleWow, CrouchingBruin, That is Really interesting.
It took me ages to get Inspect Element to show me what you saw. When I finally got it, I better understood what you were saying.
I didn’t get it when I didn’t click on “Worth”
I had thought that clicking on a line was sufficient, but no, an individual word is specifically identified.
I have tried changing my widget titles to have a smaller font, when I did that (this is some time ago) the Montezuma double color effect was lost.
I did it for individual widgets, not in Various.
How does Montezuma control things like that when I can’t exactly see the rules… of course, if it took me SO LONG to see the proper bit of Inspect Element from your example, the rules may be very visible, I’m just not looking in the right way.

Ah Ha! I was so confused as to why your widget had “twitter” in it. But now, inspecting the new AddThis element, I see that the button in question most likely was the twitter button.
Previous to this new information from you, I thought I could easily change the css by finding some in one of my sites that I like, and then applying it to a new site. It never occurred to me that using # or a period would signify something particular, that might not be a part of what I wanted.
I find it hard to read css files. I’m not used to looking at individual characters, so I don’t see important distinctions. I can see # now, as an ID. A period, for a class, will be harder to see, but I can work on it.
wow, Wow! Thank you So much!!!!
