    Hi Tara,
Thanks for your help. I didn’t realize that distinction in theme categories. Actually, an iPage tech managed to reload the backup core WordPress files which allowed the dashboard and the “Customize” to come up. I am trying to backup the site before I update WordPress and Highend. I tried to load the plugin Updraftplus WordPress Backup, but it failed to load. I suppose it wants the update first. I am now trying to use the backup facilities at iPage. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks again for all your efforts.

I found the cgi errot_log. The following was for today 07/06/2016:

I will send you the entire file if you give me your email address.

    Thanks again, Rob

Hi, iPage support has restored my theme–Highend. It appears when I go to my site, robertwestauthor.com. Unfortunately the initial problem still exists. I receive “fatal Error” messages when I click on “dashboard” or “Customize.” Remember, I was the one who turned off Highend to test whether a plugin or the theme was causing those errors. None of those tests revealed what was causing the error messages. They continued to appear as before. I can’t “customize” the site while those errors keep popping up. Please help. Thank you, Rob

I just received a message from iPage support on the issue: “I have checked the issue with our technical specialist, it seems that the issue is with the WordPress core files.

“Could you please let us know the exact date when the website was loading fine and provide us with the WordPress login details. So that we will try restoring the files.”

Do you have access to that information? I have been on a critical project since June or July of 2015 when I last successfully signed on to my site, but it seems like the problem might have been triggered by one of the updates since then (my bad, of course).

    Thanks again.

Hi. I am sorry to be so long getting back to you, but I am unreachable on weekends. And, of course, the holiday, with family everywhere about, added one more day to that.

Anyway, when I tried to log in with the link you gave me Saturday, I received the message: “Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_removable_query_args() in /hermes/bosnaweb17a/b1764/ipg.conejobob/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 921” I can get in through file manager, but I do not know how to activate the default WordPress theme. I was seeing the Highend theme on the site, but I renamed it to turn it off. I assume I can get Highend back on if I remove the “.bak” from the name. Do you want me to do that?

As far as updating WordPress, Highend theme and other changes are concerned, I assume that I would need to wait until I get my dashboard back working. Right? Thanks very much for your help. I am waiting and ready to follow further instructions.

    Hi Clayton,

I followed your and Tara’s directions: I renamed the plugins director to plugins.old. There was no change. I still received the internal error msg when I clicked on “customize.” I then renamed the theme to HighendWP.bak Now robertwestauthor.com is blank. No default theme was displayed. I could not find the .htaccess file. I used the “search” all files and then I went through each directory individually–no .htaccess.

    What now?

    Rob

P.S. I really appreciate your help.

Thank you for your response. I have found my plugins listed in my ipage file manager but can’t find a way to deactivate them–delete them, yes, but not deactivate. I tried to “edit” some of them but kept getting the “404–File Not Found” message. Can you please advise me a little more specifically on how I can deactivate the plugins with no admin panel or dashboard? Thank you muchly. I am anxious to finally get to work on my website.

I have 3 identical installs listed. Clicking on each sends me to the same site: robertwestauthor.com. Am I being charged for all 3? Can I just delete 2 of them? What should I do?
