I see, there is an add-on ( http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/wpdm-directory-add-on/ ) with advance search feature, which search title, description and other fields, please check the demo http://demo.wpdownloadmanager.com/wpdmpro/advanced-search/ to see if it fits with your need. Front-end members area ( http://demo.wpdownloadmanager.com/wpdmpro/wpdm-pro-members-area/ ) is for submitting packages from front-end, if you want to allow other users to add download.
WPDM has search widget and it simply use wp post search function, will not search inside file content , also unfortunately no add-on is available still now.
Search field with wpdm_all_packages will search only title there.

In reply to: [Download Manager] Download Corrupting?probably your server is not supporting output buffering, we added an option to enable/disable output buggering, but after update we found a bug with that option, anyhow we are releasing new update soon with the fix.

Though never heard of the issue even from any other single user, if you want us to check your issue, post in support forum. But I’m sure there is nothing to do with this plugin whatever issue you are facing there.
