So, after a bit of messing around with the url, I finally got
https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/r?cid=webcal://thenationalmouseclub.co.uk/?ical%3D1
to work, the calendar is added to Google and retrieves the events. Yay!
One little niggle remains, that is the name of the calendar. I have been through all the settings in Event Manager to try and find the place where I can set the name of the calendar. It appears in Google displaying the URL. Where would I need to set this?- This reply was modified 1 year, 1 month ago by clubsec.
Interesting. I noticed that the events from my wife’s calendar were added without issue to Google Calendar.
Her webcal url is
https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/r?cid=webcal://sonic-serenity.co.uk/?post_type%3Dtribe_events%26ical%3D1%26eventDisplay%3Dlist
If I replace her url with my club’s url, the club’s calendar is added to Google!
so,
https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/r?cid=webcal://thenationalmouseclub.co.uk/?post_type%3Dtribe_events%26ical%3D1%26eventDisplay%3Dlist
works. She uses Tribe Events, I use Event Manager. I tried modifying the url structure but as soon as I do, the calendar, despite being still added, does not retrieve any events.I have deactivated all other plugins on the staging site now and the same error occurs. Since this does not seem to be a plugin issue, do any other likely culprits come to mind? Could it be a server side problem? Any settings that might be getting in the way?
For completeless, here is the link to the staging site’s event page. The Google Calendar button is in the footer. I’s big, you can’t miss it. Just in case anyone would like to try….
https://staging.thenationalmouseclub.co.uk/show-calendar/Definitely some strage interactions there. I cannot reproduce it now. But it was the first time in 5 years that I have been able to add my club’s calendar to Google Calendar. Now, I am adding your calendar every time though. Very odd.
Anyway, thanks for trying and confirming that the link structure should work. I will need to dig a bit deeper I guess.
@joneiseman now I am dumbfounded. I used your exact link and it worked. But instead of adding your feed to my Google Calendar, it added our club’s feed to it.
I then replaced mafw.org/events.ics with thenationalmouseclub/events.ics in the URL you provided and it threw the same error again.
How can this be?
FWIW, I also tried this:
<a id="gcalbutton" href="https://www.google.com/calendar/render?cid=webcal%3A%2F%2Fthenationalmouseclub.co.uk%2Fevents.ics" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Google Calendar</a>I got the same response from Google Calendar.
@joneiseman thanks for your reply. JFYI, the ical link works perfectly. It’s just Google that’s playing up. I do use a membership plugin but I verified that the calendar feed (https://thenationalmouseclub.co.uk/events.ics) is accessible without any restrictions, so I think it is an unlikely cause.
Brilliant. Thanks so much and thanks for the great plugin!
@krambie thanks for this quick reply. Is this a pro feature? Happy to go pro, just never needed it before. I cannot see this in my Event Lists/Archives section.
