That’s strange, when I had tried it in inspect tools it didn’t work, but it did in the actual code editor. Problem solved, many thanks!!! 🙂
I did; the 1 disappears, but so does the message. Only the author’s name remains.

Sorry, I’ve just found your reply in my junk folder.
It’s the BNE Testimonial Slider widget I’m using.
I tried adding the shortcode to a text widget with image=”false” but the same thing happens, the 1 is still there – before the author name.
Brilliant, the issue appears to be fixed! Just in time, too, was about to roll back.
