In reply to: [Add From Server] Doesnt Work At AllHmmm… I only comment because I’ve used it several times without a problem.
Step back, start over. You made a directory with which to FTP to. Is in a directory that might be write protected? Is the directory also write protected? Test with one file file. Work? If not, you gotta peel back and find out why.
I had a problem with it once doing over 100 files; brought it down to 30 at a time and it’s ok. Don’t forget, WP takes each image and makes several different copies of varying sizes. Also, if any of your files are over 2MB, the server might have a limit set that may stop the upload.
As I say I’m no expert, but that plugin has been a godsend for me. As I say, back up, take each step one by one. Try one file. If it works, try 10. Look for where it won’t work and try to figure why. I can tell you it’s a great plugin that should work. If it isn’t, it’s probably not you, just a server setting somewhere. Also; I always place the FTP folder at the root level of the WP installation. See if that helps.

In reply to: [Seriously Simple Podcasting] Display episode details in playlist windowWhen I’ve used this, it does create a page from your WP theme for each individual podcast you post, which includes the date you created the podcast ,plus the date you can enter when it was recorded – plus time and file size, along with excerpts, and a few other customizations.
What I’d like to see is to publish a list where a user could resort the list based on speaker, date recorded, series, etc. Since “Speaker is an admin I don’t how to do this unless I learn some programming basics! But it would be cool!…

In reply to: [Add From Server] Not importing everythingI used to use a custom-named directory pretty much wherever I liked it and it functioned beautifully – until now! What’s finally solved my problem is to move the parent directory any name – everything I’ve tried thus far has worked) for AFS into the “Uploads” directory created by the install – and viola! Worls like it did before!…
I’m not of the type to be able to explain it, or know if that’s actually what fixed it, but ever since even the larger files (podcasts), once they’re uploaded via FTP, AFS put ‘em right in, and fast too!…
I hope that helps!…

In reply to: [Add From Server] It does not work on GoDaddy hostingThanks Dion!
I went back and used the control panel to go back to PHP 5.3, where I was able to get into admin once again; I then updated the plugin, disabled it, put PHP again to 5.4 and activated the plugin – all is well now!..

In reply to: [Add From Server] It does not work on GoDaddy hostingAh! Problem… The site is still up, but I cannot get into admin, I get this error message:
Fatal error: Call-time pass-by-reference has been removed in /home/content/56/5985056/html/nl01a/wp-content/plugins/add-from-server/class.add-from-server.php on line 137
Can’t deal with it now as we’re leaving, but if you have any suggestions…

In reply to: [Add From Server] It does not work on GoDaddy hostingDion you were right; hosting control dies bring one to a panel to choose between 5.3 or 5.4 (as indicated, they no longer support 5.2). If I have any issues I’ll post here but I’m assuming it should work… Again, thanks!…

In reply to: [Add From Server] It does not work on GoDaddy hostingThank you – thank you – thank you!!!!!!
I see where 3.2.0.2 is the last one before the PHP 5.4 requirement.
I’ll dispatch a note to GoDaddy asking them to upgrade later today; if they will?…

In reply to: [Seriously Simple Podcasting] iTunes only listing 10 podcastsIt’s in your WordPress settings, not the plugin; Find the Settings panel on the left of your dashboard, then find “Reading”, then look for two settings together, one is for blogs, the other for syndication feeds; you’ll note they are both set on “10”, and this is what you need to change to show however many podcasts.
What’s happening is that iTunes is only looking for one page ,and this setting will make additional pages past it’s setting, and iTunes won’t see those additional pages.
Got it?
(Hugh – I tried several searches before posting, including “limits”, “10”, “iTunes” and more… Probably tried every combination that wouldn’t work – I’m lucky that way! – But I also found several unanswered posts on Apple’s support forum as well, pertaining to this and WordPress. A suggestion for your consideration, maybe someway to make the importance of these settings a little more prominent? Perhaps on the whole of WordPress? Just an idea… Thanks!)

In reply to: [Seriously Simple Podcasting] Confusion over templates and "podcast" pageThanks Hugh, I certainly will!
I don’t know how, but I had deleted that page. I replaced it right away, but there was nothing on it, but two days later ,after reading your message I went back and there it is, with all the podcasts I had loaded…
