In the Settings, this page is also selected.Qns: is there any short code for the portfolio to be inserted into the Front Page that I should be aware of?

Yup, I did check what you had posted in the Jetpack plugin and customising the Theme Options, etc…
I was trying to replicate the Argent demo site which the 3 portfolio projects are displayed in the main Frontpage – https://argentdemo.wordpress.com/
Regarding the gallery, it had broken links to the images but they seem to be loading fine now.

My thumbnails does not seem to display the images. It is blanked.Here is the URL – http://vivaciouscheryl.me/photography/
I have been deleting and re-uploading it more than 3 times and still the same results.
Proving that it is not related to my network.
