Thanks HandySolo, I’m working on it, making progress bit by bit. My fear is that the home page, that is, the static page, will have to be created in php and that screws me up even more. we’ll see what happens.

I discovered the error of my ways with the help of your message. While I had created a new file to house the new theme, I uploaded the file inside a folder. Hence, I had a folder within a folder.
I reloaded and all is fine. Thanks again.
