Thank you. I really appreciate your advice.
I went ahead and used phpMyAdmin and reset my password.
I now have access again to my wordpress.org site
and will remember this for the future.

Yes, I know it is completely separate/different.
The wordpress.com is what I receive in email when I try to change my password so I can enter my wordpress.org site. This is what is confusing to me.
Where I am at now is that I think it just does not recognize my email or username.
