I’ve got the wordpress folder in the apache htdocs and when I access wp it first goes to the main index of wp showing all files and folders. I select index.php and site is shown. however, in the admin manage module I’ve got 2 warnings eg:

what do I do to rectify this?
I’m using the wp classic theme

In reply to: .htaccess questionsOK now I’ve got the .htaccess file and can edit it in the files editor. what do I edit? 2: when I click on the page, say-try again- it just goes to an error saying requested URL /wordpress/try-again/ was not found on this server. whats going wrong here then? please someone help. I’ve got the wp folder in htdocs of apache and whenever I access wordpress/index.php thats ok but somehow I keep getting the main index of wordpress folders and files and have to access the the relevant index.php from there.

Ok vkaryl I’m on Apache 2 on windows fat32 so all I need to do is find my httd.config and activate the mod_rewrite module (which comes with Apache?) I don’t have .htaccess anywhere (Isearched the whole disc) So I create that as per instructions from the link given by Katie1 and put that in the root wp folder without having to chmod it? yes

In reply to: Pages only recycle to main pageHI, i;ve just installed WP on my local machine with Apache and MySql. It isnstalled OK but when I go to localhost/wordpress/index.php I get the Index of WordPress showing all the folders and files. When I go to index.php from this list I get DASHBOARD and then when i press visit site I get my posts. When I create a page and try to access it form the my site it just reverts to the wp index with the url localhost/wordpress/?pageid=3. Can you please tell me how to access my local site blog directly? and what problem there may be with the paging?
