Just to make it clear. WP permalinks seem to work fine on my Fasthosts IIS platform although FH support tells me that htaccess is not supported…only on linux…but it still works even if I delete the htaccess file.
This works ok:

Is index.php ‘trapping’ the rest of the incoming URL somehow?
