In reply to: Upgrading from .71 to 1.5nah, that’s alright. i think i’ve got a way to do it. i installed 1.5.2 to a new folder and it’s running with access to the database just fine. i simply need to adjust the appearance of the site and it’ll be aok. but thank you so much for all the help. (i may need more still-but not before tomorrow!)

In reply to: Upgrading from .71 to 1.5also, any advantage to simply installing the new version and just importing the posts via sql or something? is that even possible? we only have 3 users and about 200 posts. nothing in the way of categories. i’m wondering if that would be simpler or just a bigger headache.

In reply to: Upgrading from .71 to 1.5alrighty, so i tried and tried to figure this one out for myself so i guess i’m just dumb. in step 1 of the upgrade there’s an error encountered at line 37:
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/.walker/bp1050/brainpuppy.com/wp-admin/wp-install-helper.php on line 37
which i just figured meant i’d gotten the wrong table names down in the wp-config.php file. but i checked and they are right. all have the wp_ prefix, etc. any other possibilities of why this might be hanging?

In reply to: Upgrading from .71 to 1.5there are some table names that appear to be redundant. eg b2categories and b2_categories. i renamed both files as wpcategories and wp_categories respectively. but then i checked the config file and in the value for table prefix there was b2 not b2_. was this an error? am i supposed to have both wp and wp_ tables? if so, what should the new table prefix setting be?
thanks podz.

In reply to: Upgrading from .71 to 1.5say podz…it took a gut check, but i think i’m finally ready to run these upgrades. i backed up my site and the database using phpMyAdmin and am unafraid. first stumbling block though…
step 2: rename the b2 tables to have the same names as wp tables. i assume this just means simply replace b2— as wp—, correct?

In reply to: Upgrading from .71 to 1.5i see the first step mentions upgrading from .71 to .72 “gold” yet no gold version of .72 exists in the code archive. the latest version of .72 is rc1 (http://static.wordpress.org/archive/wordpress-072-RC1.tar.gz.) will that do?
thanks again
