The problem seems to have disappeared. I think it was yet another Godaddy problem, not a problem with the removal of wp-cache. Although they insist it had nothing to do with their servers, after calling them 3 times, the problem magicaly disappeared in the middle of the 3rd call.

I really need to switch to another host, I’m just dredding the transfer process. For anyone starting a new blog, stay away from GoDaddy.
