@snowyn Hey, have you tried creating new pages on your site recently? Wondering if any of them (all of them?) will 404 or work correctly.

If not, try doing a test one and inserting it into your navigation menus (however you’re doing that with this theme.)

Also, I’ve been researching more and came across something likely unrelated dealing with Custom Post Types. But thinking it might be worth the effort to test.

Try changing you permalink structure to removing the category section of the link. Realizing this likely has little to do with the pages, but it has me curious now.

@temp4845 Looks like the temp home page is coming up as well. Does this mean your call to GoDaddy did the trick? Hopefully so!

    @temp4845 68, 86 Just numbers! No worries.

DNS: Domain Name Servers. The system the Internet uses to allow for domain names (your-site.com) to be used instead of making people remember IP numbers to get to your site (192.168.0.1).

When you say “…installed on the same site.” Do you mean on the same hosting account? Because if so and the “temp” site is just in a folder on the main sites directory, then you are going to have problems trying to get visitors to see the temp.your-site.com pages.

If you mean something else, do share!

@snowyn Yeah, Apache will disregard the white space/blank line after the closing bracket, IfModule, so no worries there.

Must admit, you’ve got me pretty stumped here! Do post back if you find any general (or specific) weirdness trudging through that sloggy database of yours 😉

Apologies for not being more help 🙁

@temp4845 The www is keeping anything from showing up on your temp site at all. But of course, just removing that then displays your 404 page 🙁

Do you have WordPress Multisite set up? Or is this a single WP install in the “temp” subdomain? Also, do you have your DNS set up correctly to point the subdomain requests to the proper directories on your server?

The reason I ask is because pinging the “temp” subdomain site gives me a different IP number than pinging the TLD site (lowercostelectricityprovider.com).

Been there, gone crazy myself, Snowyn! No worries.

I’ve seen some issues on researching your challenge but nothing quite “exactly” like yours.

Have you tried reverting to the “default” permalink structure (http://phoenixhealingarts.net/?p=123) to see if you are able to access those currently 404ing pages? If you’ve not, try making that change for a hot second, save and see what happens. Then go back to your preferred permalink structure of http://phoenixhealingarts.net/category/postname.

    Fingers crossed!

Just getting a white screen when I go to that web address, Rachel 🙁

I also tried hitting the main domain “aucommons.com” and got a “redirect” error.

If you’ve not, try disabling any and all plugins you have running as well as going back to the default WordPress theme. See if you’re issues are still there when you’re at the base level. If not, start activating plugins one at a time (and checking for the issues).

Hopefully this might help you isolate the bugger!

    Good luck!

LOL! Amelia, if you’re not working full-time as a WP admin somewhere, you’re missing your calling 😉

You should have absolutely no problems once you get access, based upon the knowledge you just displayed!

As to your “affordable rate”? Well, not sure what that means for your site and the organization, however if you’ve worked with HostGator, you likely know you can have extremely affordable rates for sites that you have COMPLETE control over.

Best of luck to you. Trust that it all works out the way you need it to.

Very strange indeed! What do you have on your “Settings -> Permalinks” page? What have you chosen for the sites Permalinks there?

    Hey jaymeblackmon,

Yeah, this one bites! Here’s the background to your challenge (and I’ll follow up with one solution I’ve used for clients in the past!)

You’ve probably already read “Creating a Static Front Page“, but if not, check that one out. The challenge with using the built in “static front page and Posts page” is that WordPress will use the index.php or home.php page template from your theme to generate the actual /blog.php page 🙁

As indicated by this statement on that page:
Do not use a custom Page template for this page! home.php or index.php will be used to generate this page.

The work around, since you have created a template page (blog.php) you can use that, but you should not choose it as the page to display your posts (under the “Settings -> Reading” page in the admin area). Instead just leave that setting on “– Select –“.

Next you will have to make sure anywhere you have links on the site (likely the navigation in header and footer) are linking to the page’s correct URL (again, guessing that is /blog.php?) Then the template you created should work just fine to display your site’s blog posts.

Anyway, this has worked for me when I had clients wanting a custom /blog page template set up that was slightly different than other pages in their theme.

Let us know how it goes!

If his hosting set up is pretty standard, then he’s likely running Apache. If that’s the case, and you are not getting permalinks to work (is that the case? They are not working when my make changes to the “Settings >> Permalinks” page in the admin section?) he likely doesn’t have mod_rewrite module enabled on the server.

I guess it would behoove this process to ask if you have admin access to your WordPress installation as well (if not, that previous question is sort of moot!)

But if you do have an admin account let us know if changing the permalink structure does or does not work.

    Hey rachelgonzalez,

Can you post an address? Also, does the site allow for anyone to subscribe (so we can check out what you are saying)?

    Thanks.

Have done some pretty extensive searching codel1417 and I’m not coming across any such functionality in a plugin. Will keep my eyes open for you just in case it exists out there somewhere.

    Hey buudweizerr,

What exactly do you mean by “suddenly not receiving emails”? From my understanding of how CF7 works, it “sends” emails to you (or wherever you choose) but not that it receives emails.

    Let us know!

I was initially thinking along these lines when I first read your request, ns_outdoors, but shied away from sharing it. Since I posted that last comment, I did come across this plugin that, while requiring you to have SSL set up, might be the way to go if syncing those conversations is super important to ya.

Check out WPBook and see if that will work.

    Ch33rs!

    Hey ns_outdoors,

You might be able to use plugins like Social but you’ll be hard pressed to find anything that is going to allow you to sync from your site to FB. While not 100% certain, I’m pretty sure FB’s API doesn’t allow that. Hopefully I’m wrong, however. I’ll keep my eyes open for ya!
