GD Star Rating is one that allows you to give star ratings to various custom fields, so that might solve your problem.

like johnwar said, I would love to be able to upload images directly to the Media Library folder via ftp.
I also am in the same situation, except that I also have all the images associated with wordpress posts.
I use only WordPress, I have a huge media library, and I am having to move data from one wordpress account to another. It is easy to export posts and full the images with FTP, but I do not know how to retain the association of the images with the rest of the blog info.
Surely there is already a thread about this, right?
