No worries, and yes, I hired a developer who is creating the plugin now.

    Thanks!

    Hi Cara,

Yes, I’ve installed and tested that plugin as well, however it only exempts no states or all states… no individual state exemption option.

    Thanks anyway for the assistance!

Hi Cara and thanks again for the reply!

I think we are a little skewed here on our paths.

Let’s forget my custom tax rates.. (I don’t believe it matters what I have going on in my tax rules to achieve what I need.) Let’s say I have nexus in all 50 states in my tax rules and everything I ship is set to apply tax.

Each of my clients is exempt in one state where they have nexus. I need a tool in the user settings where I can exempt them in just one or two states. Essentially it would just zero the tax at checkout on just those particular states, regardless of the tax rules.

All the plugins I see only let you exempt the user across the board or not at all. (Except for taxjar and avatax, but I can’t use those as they require you to use their tax rules, payment plan, etc, which I have already tried both and cannot use in my situation.)

    Thanks again!

Hi Cara and thanks for the reply.

As far as my tax rules, yes I use custom created rules. They are a complicated set of rules I had to create in order to cover my vendor imposed tax on dropships. TaxJar and Avalara were unable to do this, so I finally figured out a way within WooCommerce rules to make it work perfect.

Here are my current tax rule categories:

Only problem I have now is each of my clients are exempt ONLY in their respective state of nexus, (Perhaps two states if they have multiple offices in the US). Most plugins such as ‘Tax Exempt for WooCommerce’ only offer the option of exempting the customer completely in all states, on all orders, regardless of where the order ships to.

As I mentioned, the perfect solution is the taxjar part of their plugin shown here, where you can select if they are exempt or not, then select one or more states in the next box, then save.

    Thanks again!
