Bad news: I don’t know how I got it working. Unfortunately, I don’t know which of my many iterations was the successful one.
However, big thanks to Marko for being so willing to help, and I’m glad 1and1 employs someone like that! Now, if only the standard tech support folks were on the same page. I don’t expect them to know everything, but I’d rather they just say “Not sure, I’ll look into it” rather than just making up answers off the top of their head.

I thought it was when I upgraded from 2.6x to 2.8x, but apparently it was just before that when I added a 3rd Admin and all subsequent posts have been under the 2nd Admin’s name — with options to post under Admin #3, but no ability to post under my name (which should be default).

Apparently all I’ve managed to do so far is remove the padding around the icons, but they’re all still on a different line whereas I’d like them to be right after “E-mail this post” (which is a different plugin). Any suggestions?
