In reply to: [Twenty Nineteen] Styling the blockquoteI load the page in the browser. I’m using Safari. I can either look at the page as HTML or use the “inspect element” option to go direct to any item. When I see the HTML, I selected it, cut it and posted it into the edit box at the top of this page.
My question isn’t about the extra characters that appear in that quote. That’s just something odd that happens when posting the code into the edit box. I want to know how I can change the inline css. Do I need to edit a function or can I do this in the css style sheet?

In reply to: [Twenty Nineteen] Styling the blockquoteNo, cut and pasted direct from my site’s HTML.

In reply to: [Twenty Nineteen] Styling the blockquoteNo editor. I just want to change the CSS but that means overriding the in-line CSS which looks tricky.
The code I quoted was cut and pasted directly out of the HTML.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Related Posts with GutenbergRemoving the Fast Velocity Minify plug-in fixes the problem. I’d like to be able to run the plug-in if possible, so it would be good to get to the bottom of the problem.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Related Posts with GutenbergYes. It is switched on in Jetpack. Keep in mind this is a development site, so the link won’t work for long, but I won’t touch it for a week or two (unless we find a fix).
On this page related posts shows as expected:

On this page it doesn’t show:

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Related Posts with GutenbergIt’s more that I want the option of showing related posts at the bottom. If that means ALL posts it’s a lot better than only those composed with the old editor.
Yes, it’s a problem with twenty nineteen, my current production theme supports it fine, but I’ve got a twenty nineteen development site ready t go after a handful of minor fixes including this one.

In reply to: [Twenty Nineteen] Related PostsCould be Jetpack. I’ve been using it for so long it feels like it’s a core part of WordPress.

In reply to: [Twenty Nineteen] Modifying responsive heading sizesThanks. I should have known that… but because I cut and pasted the code from Inspect Element, I (dumbly) assumed it was perfectly formed but in some clever way I didn’t fully understand.
That’s the lesson here… if code LOOKS wrong, it’s not always because the other coder was more clever than me…

In reply to: [ReplyBox - Better WordPress Comments] Existing comments seem to be missingIt’s 24 hours later and the comments now show up. Turns out it took Replybox a while to convert the comments on my site. There were more than 3000, so I guess that’s understandable.

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Breaks my workflowHad to edit an error on a Gutenberg page just now. Realised one of the usuability issues is that toolbar scrolls off the top of the screen. If I select some text, then, say, select the Link option from the toolbar, when I scroll back down the link box may not appear near the link text. Sometimes it does. Other times it doesn’t. Also it can close down without warning before I’ve managed to write my link.
The toolbar also seems to disappear without warning.

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Breaks my workflowHi Andrew,
Thanks for responding.
I didn’t document the problems the last time I posted.
Normally I’d document the problems with my next post. However, I’ve found I can workaround Gutenberg, so that’ll do for now.
It would help if I could de-gutenberg the handful of posts that use it. Is that possible?

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Extracting textIt’s a custom CMS that only accepts what used to be called text view. If I paste the finished story all links, headings and other markup is lost.
At this stage I’m left wondering if it’s possible to go back to a pre Gutenberg WordPress or if I should look at an alternative.

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Breaks my workflowCan you please show me where it is dealt with?
No. That’s not the only reason for a one star review. I have a number accessibility and usability issues with Gutenberg. It breaks a lot of workflow that I’ve evolved over many years and makes WordPress harder to use for no apparent gain.
One of the great things about WordPress was it’s relative simplicity. That made it universal.
I’m not against change, but, for now, this seems a huge backward step. For the first time I’m looking at non WordPress alternatives.

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Extracting textIn the past I would go to the text view, copy the HTML and paste directly into the other site’s custom CMS. There was never much HTML there, just the words, images., a few links, H2 or H3 headings and maybe a block quote or two. The site would then publishing this without a problem.
Now, with Gutenberg, the HTML is full of extra codes. Most look like comments with <– –> wrapped around them, although there is a little more code in some places. This plays havoc when I paste it into the CMS… in most cases it inserts extra line blocks like </p><br><p> between paragraphs, this sometimes renders in the CMS as six or more blank lines.
Earlier today I took one post and manually edited out all the crud. It took nearly an hour. I can’t do that every time I post.

In reply to: [Post Kinds] Post Kinds plug-in and search extractsYes. Happy to. I have VaultPress so the worst that can happen is 5 minutes downtime 😉
