The 504 errors are caused by the plug-in. I did ask my Service Provider, and they confirmed there are no issues on their end.
I would like to comply with your request, however, every time I activate the Plugin, I can no longer log into the admin page for my site. I get 504 errors. While pages still are being served, if I try to enter via other methods, it times out and I get 504 errors.
The current remedy is, I must log in and use the WP CLI to turn off the plugin:
wp plugin deactivate wordpress-seo-premium wordpress-seoThe CLI reindex actually completed.

Currently running a Re-index again. Current status is,

Did manage to do an index run, it only took 24 hours, but my site is back to getting 504 Gateway Timout errors.
