Had this issue as well. Tried saving as draft before adding recurring dates, updated Time.ly, updated all other plugins, and turned off cache and security plugins — Still just a modal with only a loading icon.
Had the same problem. It was definitely “Post Preview Animation Type” that fixed it for me, just had to change to something else and then change back.

No problem, got another solution for the second slideshow for now. I’ll gladly switch to Frontpage-Slideshow later, if/when it’s possible to use it for all slideshows…
