I fixed it by by ticking ‘Restart the job on every main step on a running job’ in http://mysite.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=backwpupsettings as suggested in another thread here when I had a another search for the warning message.
I’m not 100% certain this is OK because I don’t understand what that setting does exactly, so I’d love it if one of the devs reassured me. However, I’m pretty comfortable that’s safe and it’s definitely stopped the warnings.
