On the settings page, the option “Include sitemap in HTML format” (The required PHP XSL Module is not installed)” must be selected. The PHP XSL module must be active to enable this.

They’re some code in the theme or other plugins that’s adding a space before the first line of code. I recommend trying to disable other plugins and enable them one-by-one to identify which one causes the conflict and then contact the author.
