  • For our site, the CC form loads immediately, but after clicking PLACE ORDER, it takes 30+ seconds, often 40, to receive the order confirmation.

Note that every customer order and test order completes successfully, just very slow.

It is likely (for both of us) that the problem lies with the hand-off and return between Woo and the payment gateway (in our case, PayPal).

We will also sub in Woo’s Store Front theme for debugging purposes.

We are currently experiencing the same problem. After 18 months of no problems, 3 days ago the time for the Woo PayPal gateway to return an order confirmation went from 2 or 3 seconds to 20+ seconds. Obviously unacceptable.

We made no changes to WP or the server at all.

After hours, we plan to start troubleshooting by removing and deactivating pieces of the puzzle until we have the absolute minimum Woo config.

For us the only change that has appeared is a recommendation to upgrade to Woo’s latest PayPal plug-in. We will try that also after hours but we don’t want to introduce more problems.

We will also setup an alternative to WP, Woo and/or PayPal as a backup solution going forward.

It must be quite difficult for all of the WP players and products to stay in sync.

Happy to keep working with you here. Note that we want to continue offering PayPal as a payment option if at all possible.

Yes. And for us, simple is better. The fewest active themes, plug-ins, etc. possible.
Is your site getting acceptable speed metrics with and without WP caching routines?

We disabled any WP caching to avoid any possible plug-in conflicts. Our server already does caching and a WP plug-in doesn’t really help. Our site gets very little traffic and only a few orders per day.

The problem can’t be many shopping carts submitted all at once.

    Woo 5.4.1
    WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway 2.1.2

Same issue here. Just started earlier this week, no config changes. Using the WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway. 20 seconds instead of 2 to 3.

We now get a message though:

“Upgrade to PayPal Payments: the best way to get paid with PayPal and WooCommerce”

Reluctant to upgrade until the new plugin is stable.

Note: Also this week, we are getting one duplicate order almost every day out of 10 to 15 total orders per day. They are generated 1 to 8 minutes apart.

We are unable to replicate this problem with test orders.

The theme had a custom CSS section. Tried it — worked. Thanks.
Another question though if you don’t mind.
How would we have known where the incompatibility (the problem) was? Between a theme and any plugin? Contact the respective authors for assistance?

Thanks for the quick reply. Since we are not the authors of the theme, in general, what approach do you recommend for overriding the active theme styles? We want to accept future updates to the theme?
