In reply to: Help, screwed up badlyBINGO! I think I may have figured it out.
First, when i renamed my WP directory, I inadvertently changed the directory from a lowercase to an upercase W. So I found that I had WordPress, and possibly 2 wordpress folders in my directory.
I discovered that the uppercase W worked the best, but I couldn’t successfully login as it kept reverting to the lowercase w.
So example, http://example.com/wordpress/wp-login.php rather than WordPress. So I backedup, then deleted the wordpress folder, then changed the upper case W to a lower case.
I got a bunch errors about missing files. I noticed that they were all lowercase W’s, so I pulled the files out of the backedupped, but deleted, lowercase folder. It worked. It seems a bit unstable right now, but at least I’m in. I’m going to upgrade it, then export the old database and put it into the new one.
Lets see if that goes ok.

In reply to: Help, screwed up badlyWell, I found a link that has the correct formatting and the theme intact. So for reading purposes, its all there.
However, I can’t log in. When i try to log in, or request the password, I keep getting a HTTP 500 error message.
Any idea what is causing this problem?

In reply to: Help, screwed up badlyUmm, when I tried changing the DB entries, I ended up with a blank page. What did I do wrong?

In reply to: Help, screwed up badlyok, so if I just change the information, the old DB will be used instead? And I won’t have to make any other changes or anything like reinstall things?

In reply to: Help, screwed up badlyOk, here’s the deal. The old blog files were so badly screwed up by yours truly, I can’t even log in. I can see the old posts though, so thats good. The theme I was using has been trashed, so not sure what’s the problem with tht. At least the posts are there.
I created a new blog installation to try to figure out what to do. That works, but, I used a new database. Now, is there anyway to change the new installation so that it reads the old database? How do I do this?
Thanks for your help so far.

In reply to: Help, screwed up badlyThanks adiant. I’m willing to just start over, but I made the blog a year ago, and really haven’t do anything except for post on it. As long as I can just get a new installation to use the old database, I’m willing to reinstal themes and what not.
I just can’t remember how to get it to show up on the homepage, or rather, so it IS the home page, like when you go to my address, its right there.
I thinkin, if I delete al the WP files, maybe I can go from there? I don’t know.
