I’ve tried reaching out to AdSense, but there is no way of contacting the team. The only option is a community forum, which doesn’t seem to be monitored by official team members. An unofficial product expert recommended that I contact the Site Kit team.
Maybe the nature of iframes (which are used by AdSense) can help explain what I suggest. Iframes are mostly detached and unaware of the context in which they are embedded. Very little information, if any, can be transferred between the iframe and the hosting page. For this reason, while being a quick fix to many challenges, iframes provide a poor user experience.
The only way to bridge this gap is if the iframe and the page’s code come from the same source. Only Google has access to both sides of the code—AdSense and the hosting page via Site Kit.
That’s why I thought that a collaboration between the Site Kit and AdSense team can be beneficial for improving the user experience of ads.
No manual fix or tweak made by a website owner using assumptions and heuristics can be sustainable and will surely break down the road.

On the front end of a site, Site Kit places the standard Google Auto Ads code across pages of a WordPress site, and nothing else.
Yes, I understand that. I thought that since Site Kit is integrated to the source code of the website it can serve as a bridge to a better, more informed and context-aware, implementation of AdSense.
Since you are an official Google plugin, I thought you could collaborate with the AdSense team to develop a more comprehensive solution that benefits all users over time rather than just partly addressing the needs of one user at a specific moment.
Considering WordPress’s and AdSense’s prominence, this would have contributed to the overall user experience on the internet, aligning with Google’s definitions.
From your response, I understand that you wouldn’t explore it currently. Hopefully, you will consider it in the future.

I went through some of these sources before opening the ticket.
It seems it comes down to two options:
- Showing fewer ads. This is the ultimate solution, but it comes with the cost of reduced revenue.
- Manually tweaking the ads load, for example by leaving dedicated ad spaces. This doesn’t feel very sustainable, and over time is likely to break and lead to poor user experience. (One example is the fact that AdSense sometimes runs automatic experiments)
Considering the fact that AdSense, Site Kit and Web Vitals are all created by Google, I thought there may be an opportunity here for a more holistic and automatic optimization.
I acknowledge it won’t be an easy fix, but perhaps it’s worth the effort to ensure that Google’s tools don’t break the very guidelines it has itself declared vital.

It is possible there are two separate issues.

There are two tests marked as passed, but which haven’t been running since March 1st.
A third test is stuck on “In progress Refresh page to see snapshot Waiting” for weeks now.
I do make development changes to the website sometimes, though nothing that should affect the database or the filesystem.
In my experience, restoring a website backup can sometimes confuse plugins. It’s the only concrete option I can think of.
I agree, it would be better to get to the bottom of these specific issues first.

Same question regarding other interesting features such as privacy sandbox and sign in with Google.
They are all mentioned often on the changelogs but it’s unclear if they are supposed to be available to the public (and whether the fact that they aren’t implies an issue or incompatibility).
