Hi, I tried it, the Twenty Sixteen is a box style, remove the box border is complex because its original layout. And if you would have the same image to put at the bottom as footer image, the theme have to edit the php file too. It is too complex for you, and big theme changes will be disorganized by update. Suggest you select a theme you like its appearance to create your site https://wordpress.org/themes/ , instead of changing theme files too much to meet your needs.

It could be the theme new version has fatal error, try use ftp tool delete your new update theme folder, backup it before delete it. Then your site will use the default wordpress theme which you could visit.
If still doesn’t work, try upload all of the wordpress files by ftp tool to overwrite. Before do it, don’t forget backup original files.

Sorry, but I don’t know which part do you mean header and footer in Twenty Sixteen, the theme appearance just like a box. Doesn’t have obviously header and footer, do you mean the “Header Image”? Could you give your site url for checking, it would need some custom css to achieve your need.

Sorry, I don’t find the white list setting place.
Did you add the commenter IP to black list? Or her name to black key word? You could check it in dashboard and the Akismet. I didn’t use Akismet ever, so I am not familiar with its settings.
