the sitemap is now egenrated like any other WordPress content. That’s why you can’t see it with your FTP progam 🙂

are you sure the sitemap didn’t work? Version 4 uses a new sitemap format which looks a little bit different, see here for details:
@bcr8tive: Of course, they are not using WordPress. What I wanted to say is that they are using the same format (sitemap index and sub-sitemaps).
@redadeptreviews: The XML sitemap is not really intended for human visitors. I highly doubt that anybody would have a look at all the URLs listed in the sitemap (without any title or description) and browse through your blog from there.

The XML Sitemap is intended for search engines, not for your normal visitors. You can find it under /sitemap.xml
But there is no shortcode or something like this to emebed the XML sitemap into your blog.

If you don’t see any sitemap errors in GWT, it is doing a good job. Than it is up to Google to index all of the URLs.
Did you look at your robots.txt is there is any blocking code? The robots.txt is generated by WordPress or other plugins, not the sitemap plugin.

This indicates that your blog is slow, not the sitemap! The plugin just tells Google about your blog URLs. But if they load slow, there is nothing the plugin can do about it.
Think about using a caching plugin or change your webhost.
Yes, I’ve fixed a small bug but didn’t want to release a new version immediately after the 4.0.4 update.

For the problems with the -externals.xml: Can you try to go to the sitemaps control panel and click the save button at the end of the page? Also make sure there are no empty lines “Additional Pages” section.

In reply to: [XML Sitemap Generator for Google] Sitemap access blocked by robots.txtThe robots.txt looks good. You can resubmit your sitemap manually in GWT, but it will take a little bit of time until Google tries it again after a “blocked by robots.txt” error.
You can also use the “Test Sitemap” function in GWT to make sure it is accessible and correctly working. If everything is OK there, you will just have to wait a little bit. The plugin can’t do anything against that.
