In reply to: [Longer Permalinks] Site Broken after PluginHi,
since the plugin is working fine on “pages” and on “posts” on so many installations, and in your 2nd installation too, there is something special here on this installation you have. Please try also what I wrote on my last message (test a new page creation with the plugin off).
Thank you.

In reply to: [Longer Permalinks] Site Broken after PluginNow you are introducing a completely different aspect: the fact that you have imported the pages and not created them on site. Seems that there is something related to this.
The topic you have opened reads: “Site Broken after Plugin”
But it seems not accurate, can you change this maybe to “Imported pages links not working” to make it more helpful to anyone else reading this in WordPress community?I will have a look at what you wrote and come back to you here in a while.
Thank you.

In reply to: [Longer Permalinks] Site Broken after PluginHi,
since the URLs are generated and links are there, this might be a problem in your server setup. What web server are you running? Can you do the following test please?
Create a simple text file with a LONG file name, in your document root, use the following filename for the file (put any content you want as a test):
saudiarabia-dell-poweredge-r740-rack-2u-chassis-8x-3-5-intel-xeon-silver-4114-16gb-116gb-rdimm-dual-rank-1-x-300gb-15k-rpm-sas-12gbps-512n-2-5in-hot-plug-hard-drive3-5in-%d9%85%d8%b1%d9%83%d8%b2-%d8%a8%d9%8a%d8%a7%d9%86%d8%a7%d8%aa-%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%a3%d8%ac%d9%87%d8%b2%d8%a9-%d8%ac%d8%af%d8%a7%d8%b1-%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%ad%d9%85%d8%a7%d9%8a%d8%a9-%d8%ae%d8%a7%d8%af%d9%85-%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%b4%d8%a8%d9%83%d8%a9-%d8%ae%d8%af%d9%85%d8%a7%d8%aa-%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%af%d8%b9%d9%85-%d8%aa%d8%b1%d8%ae%d9%8a%d8%b5-%d8%aa%d9%82%d9%86%d9%8a%d8%a9-%d8%a7%d9%84%d9%85%d8%b9%d9%84%d9%88%d9%85%d8%a7%d8%aa-%d9%81%d9%8a-%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%b1%d9%8a%d8%a7%d8%b6-%d8%ac%d8%af%d8%a9-%d9%85%d9%83%d8%a9-%d8%a7%d9%84%d9%85%d9%83%d8%b1%d9%85%d8%a9-%d8%a7%d9%84%d9%85%d8%af%d9%8a%d9%86%d8%a9-%d8%a7%d9%84%d9%85%d9%86%d9%88%d8%b1%d8%a9-%d8%a7%d9%84%d9%85%d9%85%d9%84%d9%83%d8%a9-%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%b9%d8%b1%d8%a8%d9%8a%d8%a9-%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%b3%d8%b9%d9%88%d8%af%d9%8a%d8%a9.txtand then visit it’s url in your browser:

In reply to: [Longer Permalinks] Deactivate plugin only for new postsNo, this is not possible, since this is vital for the plugin to operate (because of the reasons I wrote above).
Thank you.

In reply to: [Longer Permalinks] Deactivate plugin only for new postsWe use postmeta to keep a copy of each post slug, because WordPress on major upgrades (when a WP Database upgrade happens) is always reverting the database field back to the default length and all long slugs are lost.
By keeping them in postmeta, we are able to “restore” the long slugs after such an upgrade.
On each WordPress upgrade, all slugs are reverted (since the database field length is reverted), so they are indeed needed in order to keep your long slugs after major upgrades.Thank you.

In reply to: [Longer Permalinks] Deactivate plugin only for new postsHi,
well if you use short permalinks the plugin will not really do something special for all your new posts, but will keep working on old.
What exactly are you trying to achieve?Thank you.

In reply to: [Longer Permalinks] tags url charactersHi, thank you very much for your kind words.
The plugin works for post titles until today.
Will consider this as a feature request and investigate the scenario of such a feature for a future version.
Best regards.

In reply to: [Longer Permalinks] Permalink length reduce to 200 after wp update 5.5.1Hi again @rashid8,
just a note please:
Install the plugin but do not activate it network wide (do not activate it in wp-admin/network/plugins.php). Go to each site of your network individually and activate the plugin on each site. Then try the update and send me the news.
Thank you.

In reply to: [Longer Permalinks] Permalink length reduce to 200 after wp update 5.5.1Hello,
all those errors you show are not related to the plugin.
Today we did a fresh new WP v5.2.7 Multsite installation (with 2 sites).
We did the upgrade from 5.2.7 to the latest.
No slugs where missing or gone bad after the upgrade.Seems working.
In order to investigate further to avoid sharing private info, I would suggest you to contact me through the authors website form.
Thank you.
