I am the original poster of this issue and am herby joining this thread as I would like to see the issue resolved.
Thank you for prompt fix. Looks good to me.
Me too… Indeed rolling back to v5.3.8 restored the functionality.
The problem only exists if the login page as been renamed.
Found this report here after a whole day trying to find what I had broken!
Issue still exists in v5.4.0

I am being plagued by this warning/error and have the latest version. Hoping for a fix, please.
WP 6.7
PHP 8.3
User Blocker 2.2Thanks for responding. Yes, I do have Enable rename login page feature: enabled.
I have tried with this feature disabled but it makes no difference.
I can let you have an export of my settings, but if I post the paste bin link here, it would be public, I believe. If you want this, please advise how to communicate a link privately.
On further checking, I concur that the short-code does include the excerpt if it is explicitly added in the post’s Excerpt box.
I had been assuming that the plugin would follow the WordPress convention whereby, if no explicit excerpt has been created, it would use the first 55 words of the post or up to the <!–more–> tag if present.
Most user-submitted posts do not set an explicit excerpt, so this convention is useful. MailPoet, amongst other plugins, follows it.
Please consider adopting this convention.
Thank you.
Thank you for your response.
I have now retired Subscribe2 from all my websites and am instead using MailPoet or PublishPress Planner, depending on which fits with the site best. Both are professionally maintained and the free versions meet my needs.
Thank you Peter…
I have today traced it to the PublishPress Planner plugin.
I was about to ‘cancel’ this query but you just beat me to it!

In reply to: [bbp style pack] Unread topics indexThanks, Robin. All good now.
I have had to abandon Subscribe2 as the PHP errors are not being attended to.
I have moved on to MailPoet, which can do the same job. It is much more complicated to set up and has lots of capabilities. Have it working OK. It includes its own mail throttling option to trickle out the emails. It is freeto use for up to 1000 subscribers, which is OK for me.
(I have no connection with MailPoet – just saying what I have done.)
