So then how would I got about sending updates to privately sold themes?

Thanks Jose, I wasn’t aware of that post. But after rereading it I am still looking for a definitive answer on each of those processes.
1. If I upload the theme to the WordPress Theme Directory does that mean it is public to anyone?
2. Is git the only other way to push updates to themes if not using WordPress directory?
