I tried deactivating all the plugins and found the guilty one, it was Best Adsense that for some reason wanted to save those areas for banners!
I will validate my site as well now but thanks for all your help.
The theme was downloaded through wordpress.
I wasn’t aware at all.
It’s a theme problem then? I googled this now and more people have hade the same problem with the original themes but I haven’t found an answer to it :/..
