In reply to: Sites showing only index listingYes, the index.php was missing as well as most of my wp core files. I am in the process of restoring those files. But I am still confused about why those files would be missing. Like I said, I haven’t done any file modifications outside my wp-admin panel for months. Does this sound like a hack to you?

In reply to: Problem adding a database. Asked to 'enable windows services'.Thanks for this. I didn’t realize that difference until you pointed it out. I am hoping I don’t have to go through all these extra steps. I love WordPress because of its ease of installation and use.

In reply to: Problem adding a database. Asked to 'enable windows services'.What I have just discovered is that this Windows Enabled Service is an add-on to the domain package. I am going to pass that job onto the client to determine whether it is worthwhile or if a switch to another host would be more appropriate. Thanks for your help.

In reply to: Problem adding a database. Asked to 'enable windows services'.Yes. When trying to add through MSSQL Manager, I get this message:
Windows Services (ASP, ASP.net, ColdFusion 5, ColdFusion MX) are not enabled for your domain. To continue managing your MSSQL database please enable Windows Services. Thanks for your link, but the information there is over my head. Do you think this is what I need to learn in order to install the db?! Will this host’s peculiarities be a problem for the site down the road?

In reply to: Intermittent problems logging in, adding media for the past few daysThanks Go Daddy Support for your interest. Yes I have a support ticket (19795800) and have had some back and forth with your support via email. I would be happy for you to review the discussion and let me know if you have anything to add.
Unfortunately my problem persists, on an intermittent basis. Some days I can log in and post content to my site, and other days like today I have been unable to log in all day. I have gone through all of the suggestions your team has so far suggested and I still haven’t found a resolution. I confess I am considering switching hosts as has been recommended by others on this thread.
I appreciate your help with this since I have paid my money in good faith (2 years in advance) and feel like I am not getting the service I deserve in exchange. I would like to avoid the bother of switching hosts if possible, but can’t go on working like this much longer.

In reply to: Intermittent problems logging in, adding media for the past few daysThanks for all your advice. I will try to wrestle GoDaddy tech support to the ground on this, but I am not optimistic. It is helpful to know that it is not a WP issue so I don’t spend anymore time on those sorts of troubleshooting activities. 🙂

In reply to: Intermittent problems logging in, adding media for the past few daysI will do that for sure. But just to clarify, the login problems are intermittent, the problems adding media and saving changes are pretty much constant. Sigh.

In reply to: Intermittent problems logging in, adding media for the past few daysI can give that some thought. Thanks. But I see several other recent threads with similar issues around adding media, do you suppose these sites are all hosted at GoDaddy? Just wondering if there can be a common source of the problem besides the Host.

In reply to: Intermittent problems logging in, adding media for the past few daysWell I just paid for 2 more years with them so I’d rather be able to continue with them for now. Any idea what the server issue would be or how I should ask them about it?

In reply to: Intermittent problems logging in, adding media for the past few daysSo, I did the manual reinstall (deleting existing files except wp-content) and I also tried to run the upgrade through the admin upgrade button. The reinstall didn’t help and the upgrade button won’t work for me since it behaves like other changes I try to make to posts. I get the Safari: “can’t find the page, the server must be busy” message.
The reason I don’t think it is a WordPress upgrade issue is that another site I manage on the same server has similar problems, and I have not upgraded WP there.
To recap my issues:
1. intermittent trouble logging in, both sites.
2. After many attempts (or after some time goes by) I can get in and do some things like create new posts, activate plugins, but when I try to save any changes to posts or admin settings I get the “Safari can’t open the page” message. If I refresh the page I get bumped back to my post lists or the setting page I was on and I can see that the changes are saved.
3. I cannot add images to posts. Sometimes the media library appears in thumbnail form when I go to add media but if I select an image to add to post it does not appear in the post. Sometimes when I try to add media there are no thumbnails, just a blank window. If I add an image using upload image feature it doesn’t show up until I go to the Media Library and then it gets uploaded in multiples.
What I have tried:
1. Turning all plugins off.
2. Activating theme Twenty Twelve.
3. Reinstalling WP 3.5.2 via ftp, deleting existing files first
4. Contacting Host tech support (they say it is a WP issue)Any help or more ideas would be much appreciated! Thanks.

In reply to: Intermittent problems logging in, adding media for the past few daysI just did the test ask you requested: switched all plugins off and switched to Twenty Twelve theme but the problem with the media library is still there. (No thumbnails appear to choose from to insert media.) I have been able to login all afternoon but had trouble this morning. Maybe these two issues are not linked. Any other suggestions? Also, for your reference my site is http://www.from-push-to-pull.comThanks for your help.
