    Well, category images plugin was terrible (for me anyway), so that was a bust. The HTML allow one was perfect, and I could fix the couple that were broken.

    I truly appreciate everyone’s help. Thank you community and thanks @rajaramesh for you support.

    @rajaramesh OK – 2 issues:

    1. There is no Text tab (or Code tab) at the top right of the Description box – I tried my admin login of course.
    2. The HTML is clearly visible in the Description box as provided earlier in the thread. Nothing is “hidden”

    Update for those so kind enough to try and explain WTF is going on. I got this from the Astra site AI:

    Astra itself does not add the ability to insert images into category descriptions. WordPress core strips HTML (including <img> tags) from category descriptions by default for security reasons.

    If you’ve been adding images to categories successfully until now, it’s likely that another plugin on your site was allowing HTML in those fields — not Astra. Common plugins that enable this include category-management plugins or custom-field plugins that extend taxonomy terms.

    Check your active plugins for anything that mentions “category images”, “taxonomy fields”, or “HTML in descriptions”. If you recently updated a plugin or WordPress itself, that could explain why the images are now being stripped.

    @rajaramesh I went into Astra and there isn’t a “categories” item under Posts. So I am broken on the first step. Perhaps I am looking in the wrong place. I have Posts> Blog/Archive or Posts> Single Post or Posts> Single Page or Posts> Search Page or Posts> Custom Post Types

    Sorry but lost on step 1

    If you meant from the WordPress Admin Posts> Categories > then choose a category – I don’t see anything that Step 2 says.

    As far as I can tell your steps 2,3 and 4 are assuming creating a Post, not a category, so this process is not applicable.

    Thank you @rajaramesh – they usually update at the same time…and I think the last update that was true.

    I don’t have any plugins that allow the modification of Category pages. And I have crawled through Astra with nothing obvious at all. I am not an expert and I use things pretty much as they come. I did not create that HTML. I remember creating these categories – I am the only one that did that – and I can remember adding the images but whether they were cut and paste or some other method I can’t remember. I definitely did not have anything special.

    @threadi ahhh the theme – let me check that. I use Astra with Astra Pro. I am always updated to the latest versions of everything. I know, I know. Some people say that is how this kind of thing happens. So thanks a ton for pointing me to look.

    20 minutes later…..

    Nothing on editing categories. I also looked at Elementor and Elementor Pro – again nothing on editing categories.

    It just seems strange to me that on an older category page I have the images with that html code I show above, and when I edit and save that category that the image code is removed, yet it can exist on older category pages.

    Thank you @mbigul for underlining @threadi response. I just have no idea what plugin would do that then. I am off to the plugins repositories to try and figure that out.

    Thanks for that suggestion, but no – I can’t say I remember ever installing a specific plugin, and I have not deactivated anything. I checked to make sure. If I go to the category page: https://www.cellstream.com/category/csitraining/csilearning/ipv4-courses/ and then edit the category, this content appears:

    <img class="alignright wp-image-14 " style="margin: 5px;float: right" src="https://www.cellstream.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/v4cloud.png" alt="v4cloud" width="267" height="212" />

    If I choose to save that category, WordPress will remove this.
