In reply to: Self-installed WP: blog posts not appearing on homepageHi Esmi.
Didn’t know about that resource. All this stuff is overwhelming enough as it is…
But I will check that link. Looks very informative and to the point. Thanks!

In reply to: Database problem (we all do stupid things!)I’d still suggest doing the plugins folder reset, though.
You were absolutely right!
It was a conflict with some plug-in called Adhesive (that I can’t even remember what it’s there for…).Will back up my database weekly now!
Will back up my database weekly now!

In reply to: Database problem (we all do stupid things!)Thanks, Esmi.
I will try that later on when I have some time (doing that while working and taking up phone calls is a bit hardcore for me at the moment).
Just to clarify something, do you mean adding “-old” to the theme folder currently in use, so that WP defaults back to some other theme?
Don’t I need to activate the Twenty Eleven in Dashboard? (actually, tried that now, but still no posts appear under Twenty Eleven). Thanks!

In reply to: Problem with results pageHi Diego.
Thanks for your message.
This problem was solved a few months ago with some WordPress update.
But anyway, it’s good to finally understand the cause behind it.
Thanks!Best regards.

In reply to: Search box doesn't search strings starting with the letter "d"Hmm… not really. Haven’t changed a thing. Well, it’s not my server anyway, but one day the problem was gone.
Sorry that I can’t explain it any further. I was just glad it was over, so I didn’t bother to investigate…Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Search box doesn't search strings starting with the letter "d"I’d say the last WP update probably solved this issue. Not sure why, but the problem went away.

In reply to: Search box doesn't search strings starting with the letter "d"Well, did a major clean up inside the plugins folder.
So, *after deleting all inactive plugins*, I deactivated all the plug-ins, one by one, and kept going back to the website to try the search box. Same result every time.
Deactivating them all directly via PHP MyAdmin proved no different.
Apparently, this search box doesn’t simply like the letter “d”.
Maybe I should stop selling stuff that starts with “d”? 😉Best regards. Andre’

In reply to: Search box doesn't search strings starting with the letter "d"Ok… maybe I should have asked how do I do it via FTP or PHP MyAdmin first?

I will try that and report back.

In reply to: Search box doesn't search strings starting with the letter "d"Hi Esmi.
Just tried that. Switched over to Twenty Ten, tried the search box, same result.
It does not seem to be a theme-specific issue.
And it has been happening for some time now (since the first WP I used, 2.5 or something, I can’t remember).Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Hover link to pop-up text window. Suggestions?I don’t think you have to understand the portuguese language to see this plugin at work. If you go to this page, you can already find some dotted underlined words:

So thanks again! 🙂Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Hover link to pop-up text window. Suggestions?Hmmm… thanks! So it was right there…
I’ll make sure to open both eyes next time, before coming here and wasting people’s time. Thanks again!

In reply to: Hover link to pop-up text window. Suggestions?hmmm… abbreviation or acronym markup?
Not really sure… lets see…Imagine I use a word like ‘xptozed’ in the middle of a post or text paragraph. Not a usual word, so I would like for it to be underlined in some way, so that if the user hovers the mouse over that word, a small box would pop-up with the word definition/concept.
Can that be used with some simple tag I’m not aware of?
Or do I need some plugin and definition list to work that out? Thanks!
